There's something special about visiting a community partner's space and seeing firsthand the difference they're making in our community.
Yesterday, SDWF members gathered at Bayside Community Center's Environmental Learning Center to create seed mandalas and learn about how Bayside is strengthening the Linda Vista community.
From providing community garden plots where families can grow fresh fruits and vegetables to offering garden therapy for youth and seniors, the garden is much more than a green space. It's a place where neighbors connect, learn, and grow together. It's also the first community garden located within an existing City of San Diego park, creating a model for communities across the region.
Thank you to the Bayside team for welcoming us and sharing your inspiring work. We look forward to continuing to learn from and support our incredible community partners.

Congratulations to Cohort 9 on completing the Fellowship Program!
Over the past two years, Emily Bell, Ana Magdaleno, Jena Ralls, Ruth Tadesse, and Zhenzi Zhong have grown as leaders, strengthened our community, and made a lasting impact on SDWF.
As part of their cohort project, they surveyed our membership to better understand what members value most and identify opportunities to strengthen the SDWF experience. Their research revealed a desire for more meaningful opportunities to connect, inspiring the creation of Love Your Community, a new annual day of service that will launch in the coming fiscal year.
Thank you, Emily, Ana, Jena, Ruth, and Zz, for your dedication, thoughtfulness, and commitment to strengthening our community. We are so grateful for everything you've contributed to SDWF, and we can't wait to see what you'll accomplish next.

Southwestern College
Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our members, we were able to award $300,000 in grant funding to support these organizations and the children and families they serve.
We also had the opportunity to honor our 2026 Inspire Award recipient, Cat Corral, whose work with transcenDANCE has helped young people build confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of belonging.
Thank you for being part of this celebration and the impact we create together.
