SUMMARY:SDWF Critical Issue Education: Early Childhood Education
DESCRIPTION:An unequal distribution of educational opportunities\, financial and educational resources\, and digital assets has created a widening gap in educational outcomes for under-resourced populations\, and the COVID pandemic has exacerbated learning loss in these communities. \nIn June 2023\, SDWF will award unrestricted funding to nonprofit organizations working to combat learning loss and educational disparities for children aged 0-8 in San Diego County. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, October 26th\, to learn more about this issue from the San Diego Foundation\’s Director of Community Impact\, Katie Rast and First 5 San Diego\’s Executive Director\, Alethea Arguilez. \nMust register in advance to receive Zoom link. \nAbout our Speakers: \nKatie Rast manages San Diego Foundation\’s Community Impact Team\, overseeing the Foundation’s programs by stewarding and establishing a set of strategies that will support the mission and values of the organization\, as well as maximize the impact of philanthropic investments made by donors and Foundation discretionary funds. Read more about Katie here. \nAlethea Arguilez is the Executive Director of First 5 San Diego\, the region’s primary organization for promoting the health and well-being of children 0-5 years of age and their families.
