DESCRIPTION:SDWF members are needed to help with the next stage in our grants selection process – site visits! \nSite visits provide an opportunity for members to get to know applicant organizations on a deeper level and will help us determine which organizations will appear on our final ballot. This year\, site visits will take place from April 12-April 27 and may be virtual or in-person depending on comfort levels of applicant organizations. We anticipate the majority will be in-person. \nAll volunteers must attend this mandatory training where SDWF members Stephanie Sontag and Ginny Nelson will provide guidance on how to conduct effective site visits. \nSite visit times will be pre-arranged with grant applicants\, and members will be assigned to small teams to conduct site visits. Member assignments will be determined by the Site Visit Preference Form\, so please be sure to submit your availability by 4/6! \n**If you are unable to attend the live virtual training but would still like to participate in site visits\, a recording will be offered. Please register and select the recorded training option** \nAny SDWF member can participate in site visits. However\, you must disclose all conflicts of interest to ensure that you are assigned to the appropriate site visits. SDWF staff will send the list of organizations to all registered prior to the training.

DESCRIPTION:The San Diego Women’s Foundation (SDWF) will soon begin accepting applications for Cohort 8 of the SDWF Philanthropy Fellowship Program! \nThe SDWF Philanthropy Fellowship is a two-year program for nonprofit professionals in San Diego who are seeking mentorship and professional development. The program includes full membership to SDWF and access to SDWF committees and activities for the duration of the fellowship\, and provides a unique opportunity to learn about foundation work and grantmaking from the funder\’s perspective. Nonprofit professionals at any stage in their career may apply. \nThe Fellowship term for Cohort 8 will begin on July 1\, 2023. \nIndividuals interested in applying for the fellowship program are encouraged to attend this forum to learn more about the program\, expectations\, eligibility and the application process. \nMust register in advance to attend – Zoom details will be sent closer to the event date.

DESCRIPTION:LOI review is the first stage in SDWF\’s annual grants selection process. This year\, we anticipate a large number of applicants\, and we need volunteers like you to help determine which organizations will move forward. SDWF Trainers will provide all the necessary information to help evaluators effectively read and score applications — no prior experience is necessary! \nAfter the training members will evaluate their assigned LOIs individually\, making this an excellent opportunity for members with less flexible schedules to participate. \nA recorded training will be available for members who want to participate but cannot attend the live virtual training on Zoom. DESCRIPTION:In June 2023\, SDWF will award unrestricted funding to nonprofit organizations working to address the widening educational inequities in pre-kindergarten education for children from under-resourced communities. \nLearn more about this topic with us by joining SDWF\’s virtual screening of the film No Small Matter. Registered attendees will receive a link to view the documentary at their own leisure.
