DESCRIPTION:On this night\, we will honor the impact of our Community Partners and award over $200\,000 in new support to organizations providing mental health intervention services for youth aged 12-14 in San Diego County. \nKeynote Speaker: Dr. Ben Maxwell is a passionate advocate for positive youth development. He has traveled the globe to set up mobile health clinics in Guatemala\, lived in India to work in orphanages\, and taught child psychiatry in Ethiopia. During his formative years of practicing\, he learned about life\, kids\, and the human experience. These lessons continue to kindle his empathy and curiosity. Currently\, he serves as the Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Rady Children\’s Hospital and UC San Diego. \nALL are welcome at this inspirational evening! \n5:00 – 5:45: Hosted cocktail hour \n5:45 – 7:00: Speaking program and grant awards \nFAQs \nWhat are my transportation/parking options? \nPaid parking is available in the West Parking Structure ($2.50 per hour). DESCRIPTION:SDWF members are needed to help with the next stage in our grants selection process – site visits! \nSite visits provide an opportunity for small teams of members to get to know applicant organizations on a deeper level and will help us determine which organizations will appear on our final ballot. This year site visits will be virtual and will take place from April 14 – April 28. \nAll volunteers must attend the mandatory training where SDWF members Marnie Klein and Janice Kurth will provide guidance on how to conduct effective site visits. \nSite visit times will be pre-arranged with grant applicants\, and members will be assigned to small teams to conduct site visits. Member assignments will be determined by the Site Visit Preference Form\, so please be sure to submit your availability by 4/9! \n**If you are unable to attend the live virtual training but would still like to participate in site visits\, a recording will be offered. Please register and select the recorded training option** \nAny SDWF member can participate in site visits. However\, you must disclose all conflicts of interest to ensure that you are assigned to the appropriate site visits. SDWF staff will send the list of organizations to all registered prior to the training.

DESCRIPTION:This members-only training is required to participate in Letter of Inquiry (LOI) review. \nLOI review is the first stage in SDWF\’s annual grants selection process and volunteers are needed to assess whether applicants meet basic grant guidelines. SDWF Trainers will provide all the necessary knowledge to effectively evaluate applications – no prior experience is necessary! \nAfter the training members will evaluate their assigned LOIs individually\, making this an excellent opportunity for members with less flexible schedules to participate. \nA recorded training will be available for members who want to participate but cannot attend the live virtual training on Zoom.
