SUMMARY:Community-Centered Solutions to Food Insecurity: A Conversation with LAFPC
DESCRIPTION:Join SDWF and the Los Angeles Food Policy Council in discussing sustainable\, community-centered solutions to alleviating food insecurity. \nLower-income communities and communities of color disproportionately face limited access to fresh\, healthy\, and culturally-appropriate food. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, November 17th\, to learn more about long-term solutions to reduce food insecurity in these communities from Christine Tran\, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Food Policy Council. \nLAFPC works to create a local food system free from hunger\, rooted in equity and access\, supportive of farmers and food workers\, and guided by principles of environmental stewardship and regeneration. DESCRIPTION:Food insecurity has long been an issue in our community – recent data shows that as many as 1 in 3 San Diegans lack access to adequate food. This year\, in our 22nd grants cycle\, the San Diego Women\’s Foundation will fund solutions to this critical issue. \nJoin us on Wednesday\, October 6th\, to learn more about this issue from San Diego City Councilmember representing District 9\, Sean Elo-Rivera.
