SDWF members and guests are invited to join us on April 20th for our next Community Partner Connection featuring Casa Cornelia Law Center, a recipient of funds in our cycle 20 grants supporting refugees, asylees and asylum seekers.
Casa Cornelia is a San Diego nonprofit law firm that has provided free, quality legal services to asylum seekers, unaccompanied children, and undocumented victims of domestic violence and human trafficking for 28 years. Last year, SDWF awarded Casa Cornelia an unrestricted grant that allowed them to continue to provide pro bono legal services to asylum seekers despite the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic and ever-changing immigration policy.
Attendees will hear from Casa Cornelia Executive Director Carmen Chavez and Managing Attorney of the Pro Bono Program Katherine Paculba Lacher about their efforts to provide quality legal services to promote human rights, and the many challenges faced by asylum seekers and victims of crime.
Must register in advance to attend – Zoom details will be sent closer to the event date.
